Ascension Quests
How many of you have Ascended? I'm just starting them at level 18. Is this too low? How long did it take for you to Ascend?

Hey Funbun. As we have talked earlier I tried the Thirsty River last night. We got to the last boss on our second attempt but didn't kill him in time before the aggros rez'd.
Word to the wise, dont put three rangers in a group for this! No group balance and lots of party deaths. As the monk I was nearly always drained of energy after first 20-30 seconds. If you can do this quickly (under 5 minutes I think) you get an Extra Bonus. And dont go into here with low armor. But what I like about the Ascension Quests is the difficulty. This will definitely weed out the poor players! |

IMO 18 is not too low....though you WILL find a lot of people who disagree with me on that and may find some trouble finding parties. IMO getting through ascension is less about your level and more about working together and (as stated above) party balance (not to mention a good sense of timing).
It helps to have someone who can help keep energy going, people who can hit hard, someone to interrupt casters, etc. We had a necro, a mesmer, a war, an elem, a ranger, and a monk. People who could interrupt went for the boss, people who could nuke/hit hard went for the priest. We also had a good party leader who had control of the party (and wasn't afraid to boot out any non-team players and those trying to gain control of his group) and a good sense of timing telling us exactly when to go. One thing that has really surprised me in this game (and why I love henchies so much) is that when someone creates a party, people have a hard time following the party leader. Everyone feels they know best and everyone starts barking orders. It helps to follow a party leader who knows what to do. |

Well it is a matter of preference and much debate.
I wear full tattoos +51. Yes, I dont get the protection that other armor gives, but I need the energy benefits to prevent: "rez plz" <ping!ping!ping!ping!> on the compass map "bad Monk" <insert your favorite comment here> and the list goes on............... I'm a monk, not a tank so I'll take the energy any day! |
